Finding, Using and Mastering your Power and Influence

In this workshop, you will learn how to use power and influence to increase your efficacy as a leader. Dr. Katie will also introduce critical tools and frameworks to help you identify power gaps. Before the session, please think about 3 people who you would like to have more influence with and try to work out why you are not currently able to influence them.

  • Using a framework to diagnose where you have power and influence gaps.
  • Creating a power and influence plan which you can action to increase your efficacy and standing with team members, peers, managers and wider stakeholders.
INTRODUCTION TO THE SPEAKER
Leadership Consultant
Dr. Katie Best is a leadership consultant, who helps leaders solve their messy problems. She does this through business partnering, strategic advisory, and leadership coaching and development. She works with leaders at all levels – from the C-Suite to emerging leaders. Katie has worked with a considerable roster of clients, including Simmons & Simmons, Lewis Silkin, KPMG, EY, Barclays, Kaplan Altior, NHS, V&A, The Olympic Legacy Corporation, The Storytellers, Mishcon de Reya and Ropes & Gray. She is a Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London Business School and holds a PhD in Management, also King’s College London Business School. She is Head Tutor on LSE’s MBA Essentials programme, and Chief Examiner on the University of London Core Management Concepts module. Her award-winning research has been published in top-ranked journals (4* and 3* publications) in the fields of Management and Social Sciences. She is currently writing a book on the challenges of mid-tier leadership.
